Roles in JSA
*Chapter secretary: Gained the understanding of how JSA chapters work with administration and their needs/concerns for attending conventions
*JSAZ Expansion Agent: earned the skills of how to expand not just individual chapters but Arizona as a whole, also learned the difficulties of communication between cabinet and chapters
*Chapter president: first step of taking on the responsibility of being in charge of the success of a group of people, also learned a different perspective of the cabinet-chapter communication
*JSAZ Director of Expansion: learned how cabinet truly works together and with chapter presidents to ensure Arizona and its conventions' success; learned how to work with admin and students across Arizona all with different needs and resources
JSA Opportunities
*Arizona institute: Ability to meet and network with junior statesmen across Arizona; opportunity to understand what students expect from cabinet; had the opportunity to meet and discuss with Arizona legislators to get a deeper understanding of how Arizona's government works and the importance of engaged constituents
*Montezuma: Ability to meet and network with junior statesmen across the country in the birthplace of JSA; gained understadning of how JSF works with JSA; opportunity to meet CEO and PDs from other states; worked with other CIA and Expansion departments for effective techniques; gained a better understanding of JSA on a national level; nationally recognized as one of 50 rising junior statesmen in the nation
Outside JSA experience
*Governor's Youth Work under Governor Ducey to Commission advocate for youth in Arizona, specifically Yuma County; opportunities to work and network with engaged students from every county in Arizona
*Odyssey of the Mind One of seven students on an out-of-the-box problem solving team; represented Arizona at the University of Maryland (2011), Michigan State University (2013 & 2015), and Iowa State University (2014); 4 time World Finalist (2011,2013,2014, & 2015); used this opportunity to learn how team work and leadership goes hand-in-hand; learned how to work with people from all backgrounds to solve a problem in the most effective way possible; recognized as such globally
*Odyssey of the Mind Coach Learned how to guide the way for the younger generation; put leadership skills to use; responsible for 10+ students and helping them get to state and world competitions;use this opportunity to give back to the community
